Where is Origin Yoga & Wellness? Origin Yoga & Wellness is located at the most northern tip of Taiwan, right by the beautiful Baishawan beach. It takes less than 90 minutes to commute from Taipei. Please see our Location page for directions on getting here including information on taxi transfers and public transits.
How do I make a reservation? Visit the Reservations page. Call us or send us an email. All our contact info can be found on our Contact Us page.
What can I expect? Breathtaking ocean view, authentic yoga, delicious food, amazing local excursions, peace and happiness. You can also find an example of our retreat program schedule here.
What kind of food and drink do you have? Chef Edward provide healthy, home cooked vegetarian meals using the freshest local ingredients. We can accommodate special diets if given advanced notice at least one week prior to arrival. On site, we have clean filtered water and organic herbal tea at all times. As part of yogic traditions we encourage guests to eliminate meat, alcohol, caffeine and processed sugar as such we don't have these foods and drinks on site. There are coffee shops and restaurants nearby if any additional food items are needed.
Are classes taught in English? Yes. Our yoga classes are taught in English. Mandarin instructions can also be given as needed.
Are classes taught outdoors on the beach? We like to practice yoga and meditation as close to nature as possible! Depending on the weather and time of the day, some of our classes will be held on the beach and some are held inside the Retreat Center.
Do you accept walk-ins? No. We limit our yoga retreats to no more than 8 participants at a time to ensure each student receives proper attention and care. Please visit our Reservations page and reserve your spot in advance.
Which style of yoga do you teach? Lydia, who is the primary teacher for our Signature Full Day Retreat and Signature Weekend Retreat, teaches ancient style of Hatha Yoga. We also work with various talented guest teachers who offers unique yoga and meditation knowledge of their own. Read about our teachers here.
Do you have a SPA on site? Yes! We have an Ayurvedic spa on site which you can experience holistic treatments based on ancient Ayurvedic wisdoms. We customize each treatment based on your unique body type and needs, therefore we do require advanced booking. To learn more about Ayurveda, we invite you to add on our Passage to Ayurveda Wellness as part of your yoga retreat experience. Simple contact us to book your appointment!
Can I experience Ayurveda treatments without joining yoga retreats? Yes! We do open our Ayurvedic spa to outside guests who are not part of the yoga retreats base on availability. You are welcome to come just to experience our Passage to Ayurveda Wellness. Simple contact us to book your appointment!
Are you open year-round? Yes. Origin Yoga & Wellness is a year-round facility and offers something different for each season. The retreat center has heating and air conditioning to ensure a comfortable visit.
What do I need to bring? For multi-days yoga retreats, please see our detailed packing list for some items to consider bringing.
Can I stay extra nights before/after a yoga retreat? Absolutely! Please inquire for the rate at the time of booking.
Can I bring my own yoga mat? We provide yoga mats and shawls for meditation. You are welcome to bring your own if you feel more comfortable.
Do I have to attend the scheduled beach restoration session? No, beach clean-up is completely optional. See our Beach Restoration page for more information on this initiative to decide if you would like to participate. Depending on the weather conditions, beach restoration sessions may be postponed or cancelled for safety reasons.
What type of payments do you accept? For the 25% non refundable deposit required at the time of booking we accept payments by PayPal, ATM Transfer or Bank Transfer. For the remaining payment we prefer cash upon arrival (other payment methods are subject to 4.5% transaction fee).
What happens if the retreat is cancelled? If we have to cancel the weekend retreat due to unforeseen weather conditions, we will give you back 100% of the deposit payment.
What do I do if I have to cancel or make changes to the retreat? Any changes or cancellations must be communicated at least 2 weeks in advance. The deposit can be applied towards a future booking within 6 months.
Do you accept donations? Yes, but we are not a charity or non-profit. We will put the money towards the charity we currently support. See 7% Good Karma page for more information.
Do you have gift certificates? Yes. We can issue a gift certificate for a specific retreat or a value amount. If you would like to order a gift certificate, please e-mail us.
Do you have internet access? Yes we offer free wireless wi-fi connection. However, we encourage you to leave your phones and laptops and enjoy the ocean breeze instead.
